SPARKS BRIEF: Becoming Trans-National


Washington, D.C. – June is LGBTQ Pride Month, and it’s highlighted by parades and celebrations around the country. In a month where love and acceptance is the theme, there is a stark contrast in our nation’s capital, where the policies of the Trump Administration seek to eradicate the marginalized transgender community.

As the president demonizes transgender people with executive orders and his lackeys fall in step, many allies are fighting in opposition.

A grassroots movement has begun, and a political action group, TransNational Alliance (TA), has formed to support a community under siege. Bob NonBinary, a spokesperson for TA, said that Trump and his “red, white, and ewww” minions are attacking a group that only represents approximately 0.6% of the US population aged 13 and older.

“We want the trans population to grow and overshadow Trump’s petty policies. It’s much harder to push bigoted strategies in a plurality,” Nonbinary said. “There is strength in numbers, and we want to be a national Goliath.

TA has just kicked off the campaign—Yes, I’m Trans Too. They’re asking citizens to fight back against discrimination and declare they are a trans citizen.

“It’s easy, and you can become an ally just by declaring why you are trans,” said campaign director Peter Pansexual. “We’ve mailed out information packets to 10 million households in the first wave of our campaign.”

The packet contains a reference guide to declare your trans identity.

    3.     If you’re an athlete—Tran-sport

    4.     If you’re an artist—Trans-mural

    5.     If you’re a sex worker— Trans-Vaginal

    8.      If your son or daughter is transgender—Trans-Parent        

    9.     If you’re a catcher on a baseball team—Trans-mitt

    10.  If you’re an addict—Trans-fix    

    11.  If you’re a writer—Trans-verse

    12.  If your brother is trans, you’re a—Tran-sister

“Anyone who cares about human rights must join the TransNational Alliance,” NonBinary said. “Let’s be transformative and stop discrimination, hate, and exclusion while we transfer transphobic Trump to prison.”

Waking Up in Vegas - Happy 2014!

Neither, Gary or I, are really gamblers, so we try to find other activities to occupy our time when visiting Vegas. Mental Health - Destroy the Stigma

Summer Adventures Part 2 – The Backyard Backlot to Broadway

Communication - The Art of Words

I read a posting, a few weeks ago, that the song “Enjoy the Silence” by Depeche Mode was celebrating its 25 th anniversary. The song, released in 1990, speaks of how you can be beyond words. It relays the message that there are times when words can’t describe feelings or emotions and seem inconsequential. I do understand when people say that something is “indescribable.” We all have moments when we just want silence and time to appreciate the world beyond words.   A feeling or an emotion can be hard to verbalize at times, but are we ever beyond words? We have to realize that if we want a space of non-communication we have to communicate that.
